POSITION: Academic Technologies and Outreach Services Librarian

ACADEMIC RANK: Assistant Professor, Law Library

DUTIES: The librarian in this position will specialize in providing academic technologies support and outreach services to the members of the College of Law and university communities, providing instruction in legal research techniques, developing outreach initiatives that facilitate faculty and student use of the library’s expanding digital footprint, and supporting the University’s interdisciplinary initiatives, and enabling digital access to resources by the alumni to support their growth and continued learning in the legal profession. Provide reference service to faculty, students and other library users. Teach legal research to students both inside and outside of the classroom. Develop outreach initiatives that facilitate faculty and student use of the library’s resources. Offer instruction on legal research technique in specific subjects to classes in the College of Law and in university undergraduate and graduate classes that have law-related components. Engage in professional development activities, scholarship and service required for tenure-track faculty position. Occasional evening or weekend reference work possible.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited library program and a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school (if in progress, degrees required by employment start date); knowledge of legal research techniques in all formats; the ability to teach legal research in formal and informal settings; ability to work with technologies and platforms connected to legal and interdisciplinary resources; the ability to engage in professional development activities and scholarship; excellent communication skills; the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Regular, twelve-month, tenure-track faculty position. Available December/January (negotiable). Minimum salary: $51,000.

BENEFITS: Health, dental, vision and life insurance. Participation in the State Universities Retirement System. 24 vacation, 12 cumulative and 20 non-cumulative sick leave days per year.
